The Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres, which rises majestically from the Beauce plain, is a famous Gothic Catholic church built in the 12th and 13th centuries. With its outstanding sculpted décors and stained glass windows, it has been called a “masterpiece” and “the high point of French Gothic art” by UNESCO, who classified it as a World Heritage Site.
